Labs · the web surface
The site that outlives its redesign.
For the ones that must not fail — a government portal, an international company, a serious operation. Hand-written, served from the edge in the visitor's own tongue, with the SEO and the automation that keep it alive woven in, not bolted on.
Not a theme filled with your logo. A document written for the one site it serves.
Semantic, accessible, light enough to read before a single byte of JavaScript loads. One site, one purpose — nothing shipped that it does not need.
SEO is not a second vendor. Structured data and clean markup are written as the page is built, so the right people find it — in seven tongues, each a real page.
Forms that reach a person, content that updates itself, the quiet automation behind the page — part of the build, so the site keeps working when you are not watching.
Four figures from a site built by hand.
The craft of a serious site is restraint: the right tag, the data it renders from, and the script added only where it earns its weight — using the browser's newest native APIs, no framework — with the SEO written into the page itself.
<!-- a page you can read before one byte of JavaScript arrives --> <main id="content"> <h1>Office of the Registry</h1> <nav aria-label="Services"> <a href="/apply">Apply</a> <a href="/status" aria-current="page">Check status</a> </nav> <article> <h2>Your case</h2> <p class="status status--open">Open — in review</p> <time datetime="2026-11-02T09:14:00Z">Updated today</time> </article> </main> <!-- no div soup, no bundle to boot. a landmark, a heading, a link. -->
// the data the page renders from — one shape, every language. the app reads the same. { "case": { "id": "c_7f3a91c4", "status": "open", "locale": "fr", "updated": "2026-11-02T09:14:00Z", "actions": [ { "label": "apply", "href": "/fr/apply" }, { "label": "status", "href": "/fr/status" } ] } }
// JavaScript · added only where it earns its weight — the browser's newest native APIs, no framework customElements.define("case-status", class extends HTMLElement { #case = JSON.parse(this.dataset.case ?? "{}"); // the same JSON the page already shipped with connectedCallback() { // View Transitions API — native to the browser, zero bundle to boot document.startViewTransition?.(() => this.#render()) ?? this.#render(); } #render() { this.textContent = this.#case.status; // enhances markup that already works without it } });
<!-- SEO is not a plugin here — it is written as the page is built --> <link rel="alternate" hreflang="fr" href="https://…/fr/status"> <link rel="alternate" hreflang="ar" href="https://…/ar/status"> <script type="application/ld+json"> { "@context": "https://schema.org", "@type": "GovernmentService", "name": "Registry — case status", "availableLanguage": ["en","fr","de","ar","es","ja","zh"], "provider": { "@type": "GovernmentOrganization", "name": "Office of the Registry" } } </script> <!-- found and chosen is the same job as built. -->
Why a hand-written site beats a theme, every time it matters.
A theme cannot be made to measure — it was made for everyone. A page that needs a megabyte to show a sentence cannot be made fast — the weight is the point of it. That is why there is no template on this page, and why there is no price list: we measure what the site must do, and quote what we measured.
Before a line is written, how your work is kept. This part is not negotiable.
An NDA is the default here, not an upsell. What you share is read by one engineer and no one else — nothing is sold, shared, or passed on.
Credentials and records stay in your house, under least privilege. We keep no copy we do not need, and nothing leaves your reach without your word.
What runs in your house is yours to read and audit — no black box you must trust unseen. The engine room stays ours; what you run is yours.
Two lines are enough — what it is for, and who must find it. We read them ourselves and we answer ourselves.
It is already on a screen in Zürich — not in a queue, not in a ticket. The engineer who would build this reads it, and writes back himself.
